Yavapai-Apache Nation

Prosecutor II, Camp Verde, A.Z. The Prosecutor investigates, evaluates, and prosecutes juveniles and adults accused of violating the criminal laws of the Yavapai-Apache Nation. The Prosecutor also represents the Nation in dependency and neglect proceedings, including Indian Child Welfare Act proceedings, before tribal and state courts. Pay depends on experience. Nisqually Indian Tribe

Special Prosecutor, Olympia, W.A. The Nisqually Indian Tribe is now  requesting proposals for a Special Prosecutor to conduct a criminal investigation. Deadline to submit proposals is June 29, 2018. Please see the announcement for more information.

Oglala Sioux Nation

Clerk of Court, Pine Ridge, S.D. The Oglala Sioux Nation is looking for a Clerk of Court, who under the direct supervision of the Supreme Court’s Chief Justice, carries out all orders of the Supreme Court of the Oglala Sioux Nation. Some duties of the Clerk include: recording examinations and testimony, transcribing recorded material, preparing reports, and more. Please see the announcement for more information.

Justices, Pine Ridge, S.D. The Oglala Sioux Nation is looking for three Supreme Court Justices (one chief justice and two associate justices) and one alternate justice to serve a six year term. National Resources Defense Council (NRDC)

Climate and Clean Energy Legal Fellow, Washington, D.C. NRDC is seeking an Attorney to serve as a Climate and Clean Energy Legal Fellow. This two-year fellowship is available starting immediately. The Fellow will focus on the administrative processes and expected litigation over agency actions to weaken climate, clean air, and clean energy standards, such as standards for power plants, vehicles, and other industries. The Fellow will work closely with attorneys from NRDC’s Climate & Clean Energy Program and Litigation Team. Please see the website for more information.

Clean Energy Advocate, Washington D.C. NRDC is seeking an Advocate to work with the Sustainable FERC Project team, preferably in our Washington, DC office. The Project is an initiative housed in NRDC’s Climate & Clean Energy Program that represents many national and regional environmental organizations on issues related to the nation’s wholesale energy markets and bulk transmission system. We advocate for policies that will accelerate the deployment of renewable energy, demand response, energy efficiency, and energy storage. Please see the website for more information.

Environmental Justice Project Attorney, Sacramento, C.A. NRDC is now accepting applications for a Project Attorney position to join its Environmental Justice (EJ) Team. NRDC’s EJ Team is committed to partnering with and fighting for low-income communities of color, when invited, to hold the government and polluters accountable and to protect the health of communities. We accomplish this by providing legal and technical assistance to communities fighting for clean air, clean water, climate justice, and a healthy environment, as well as for environmental benefits such as open space, healthy housing, and access to healthy foods. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of attorneys, policy advocates, and other staff advancing environmental justice within the Healthy People & Thriving Communities program, as well as across the organization. Department of Justice

Assistant United States Attorney, Phoenix, A.Z. The United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), District of Arizona, is seeking an experienced defensive Civil attorney to serve as a Civil Assistant United States Attorney in the Phoenix, Arizona office. The work of the Civil Division mirrors the varied activities of the federal government and offers a challenging and diverse caseload. Phoenix Civil Division AUSAs handle affirmative and defensive civil cases at both the trial and appellate level. Defensive matters include, employment discrimination claims, Bivens suits filed against federal employees, tort suits brought under the Federal Torts Claims Act, immigration, bankruptcy, land dispute matters, and prisoner litigation, among others. Affirmative cases are similarly diverse, including, suits brought under the False Claims Act, the protection of civil rights, property rights and land use. Although there can be a degree of specialization amongst the AUSAs in the Division, each attorney handles a wide variety of cases depending on the needs of the office. Assistant United States Attorney, Portland, O.R. This position is located in the Civil Division. Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) located in the Civil Division of our Portland office will be responsible for representing the United States and its departments, agencies, and employees in civil actions brought against the United States at both the trial and appellate levels. The Civil Division’s defensive cases include suits alleging negligence under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), including medical malpractice; allegations of unlawful discrimination in federal employment; challenges to agency actions under the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); suits seeking release of records under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act; the defense of government officials sued in their individual capacities for constitutional violations (Bivens actions); responses to prisoner habeas petitions; and motions to quash subpoenas that fail to comply with applicable federal regulations. The Civil Division also handles some affirmative civil rights matters in which it seeks enforcement of statutes that prohibit discrimination in areas such as housing, education, or employment. Assistant United States Attorney, Tulsa, O.K. The Criminal Division’s current staff of eighteen Assistant United States Attorneys and ten support personnel investigate and prosecute all federal crimes in our jurisdiction. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma seeks an experienced attorney to serve as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division for combating violent crimes. Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) located in the Criminal Division of the Northern District of Oklahoma will be responsible for prosecuting a variety of violations of federal laws such as immigration, drugs, firearms, public corruption, and white collar crime. While the primary focus of this search is for an entry-level tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, a tenured appointment at the rank of Associate Professor may be considered for a truly outstanding candidate. Tribal Attorney, Suquamish, W.A. The Suquamish Tribe seeks a Tribal attorney with legal experience in Indian Country, a J.D. from an accredited law school, and membership or eligibility for membership within one year in the Washington State Bar.   Knowledge of federal Indian law is required, prior experience working for an Indian Tribe is preferable.  Litigation experience is a plus. The Suquamish Tribe is a progressive, energetic Treaty Tribe located on the West side of Puget Sound just thirty-five minutes by ferry from Seattle. Finance Grants Manager, Valley Center, C.A. The Grants Manager position is responsible for the administration of all Tribal grants, as well as State and Federal allocations, which includes but not limited to the selection of expenditures to charge to grants, preparation of grant budgets for approval by granting agencies, creation of annual grant budgets for approval by the General Council; correspondence with granting agencies and other work needed to facilitate execution of the grants. Tohono O’odham Nation

Assistant Legislative Attorney, Sells, A.Z. Under the direction of the Legislative Attorney, provides legal advice and representation to the Legislative Council and standing committees on a wide range of issues affecting the Tohono O’odham Nation; works with tribal, federal and state officials as well as national- and state-level tribal advocacy groups, other tribes, private individuals and entities; maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court

Assistant Tribal Prosecutor, Fort Yates, N.D. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is soliciting applications for employment, as an independent contract employee, for an Assistant Tribal Prosecutor for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court. This is a full time position.  The number of hours, days of employment and compensation are all negotiable. The terms of employment will be determined by the agreement of the parties. The contract shall be compensated on an hourly basis. Employment beyond one year will be contingent upon funding.
